Happy 30th Birthday, Dan!

Happy 30th Birthday, Dan!

I am so thankful to God for your life and that He saw fit that I should be your wife. (Oops, didn't mean to rhyme, the rest of this will not be a poem...at least not on purpose.) His grace sustains us each day. I have the highest respect for you in the many roles you play- husband, daddy, friend, brother, theologian, son, leader, pastor, grandson, health professional, etc. May God our Father continue to mold you into the image of His Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I love you!

He Has Risen!

Miranda, Johnny and I missed church today because Miranda is pretty sick. She is running a fever and has a cough and runny nose. Dan and I were pretty bummed because we wanted to see her up on stage singing with the other children. We have been practicing "Ho, Ho, Ho Hosanna" for a couple weeks and she's got it down.

I tried to make Easter special for her at home in between naps. We sang songs and read the resurrection story in her "special" Bible. We thought about making a tomb out of flour, salt and water and baking it in the oven, but supposedly it was going to take 2 hours to bake and Miranda was short on energy, so we just cut out the bottom of our egg carton and made a mini tomb with tiny strips of toilet paper (Jesus' band-aides) on the inside. Miranda enjoyed opening and closing the "door" and saying "It's empty" and "Jesus is ALIVE!".

I love Johnny Boy's new suit and matching hat (reversible to orange). I had him model it first thing when we got home. He is one cool dude!

Grandpa and Miranda

My Dad flew in to spend a long weekend with us this past weekend. We had lots of fun going to the Ft. Worth Stock Yards, eating good food, trying to fly a homemade kite, coloring, reading and watching Dirty Jobs. Here are Miranda and my Dad looking at some longhorns in their pen.

2 Year Old Interview

So I got this idea from a friend's blog (thanks Pam) who interviewed her 3 year old daughter. I think it's a great thing to do each year and will be fun to look back over the answers. I wasn't quite sure how Miranda would do because she hasn't really used the word favorite yet and I didn't know if she would understand, but I think she did pretty well. I did no coaxing...however, I had to focus her a little with the last one because she was on the potty when I asked her and I got a little bit of gibberish with "potty" and I'm pretty sure the potty isn't her best friend, although she does spend a lot of time there.

What is your favorite color? "Rainbow"
(And I thought for sure it would be pink:-))

What is your favorite toy? "Books"
(No surprise there)

What is your favorite animal? "Lion...Noah's Ark"
(I think she just said the first animal that popped into her head)

What is your favorite movie? "Signing Time...Pooh, Pooh"
(I guess it's a tie)

Where do you live? "Living Room"
(On a micro level this is actually quite true!)

Who is Jesus? "God is Jesus"
(Not bad for a two year old theologian)

How old are you? "Eleven"
(To which I replied, "No, you are only two. Thank goodness! And gave her a kiss)

Who is your best friend? "Johnny"
(This came after a little talk about how she has friends at church...does she have a best friend at church? I thought she would list all of her friends at church, but she said, "Johnny". Melt my heart:-))

It was so fun to hear her answers! Miranda, don't grow up too fast!
