Johnny's doing great. He had his 2 month old check up at the doctor last week and he weighed 12 lbs 14 oz. and 24 in. Which puts him in the 75th and 80th percentiles for weight and height. Miranda weighed the exact same at her 4 month old check up. No wonder he seemed so big to me.

And I hesitate to say this because you never know what tonight may hold, but he has slept 7-8 hours straight through the past three nights. Yippee! Although, I still wake up around 3 because my body has gotten used to waking up.

He's a sweet boy! We got a new Elizabeth Mitchell CD and it has a song on there that goes "Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle. You're my sack of sugar. I could eat you up...." I say that line to him often because it describes so well the bursting love I feel inside.

Miranda helped me set up Johnny's gym today. Of course, she had to show him how it worked first. Maybe he'll get a chance to play with it tomorrow.

Now that Miranda can stand on a chair and not fall, I've been having her help me cook. I LOVE it! It keeps her occupied and keeps me company in the kitchen. Here she is helping me make french toast. Tonight we made banana bread. She does such a great job. She is very careful and attentive. She also gives her own suggestions as she's helping- "More milk", "more eggs", "more salt" etc...

Here is Johnny "playing" My Little Ponies with Miranda. As you can see he is thrilled about it. Now that Johnny is more attentive to what is going on around him Miranda shouts "Ook Brother" and shoves things in his face a lot more often. (She leaves the "L" off of "look") This morning he got a My Little Pony hoof to the face. I'm trying to teach her to show him things from a little bit more distance.

Raisins?

Today Miranda took a long nap. Actually, she’s been taking long naps all week, so I didn’t think too much of it…maybe it’s a growth spurt? But I figured growth spurt or not three hours was long enough. So I unsuspectingly walk into her dimly lit room to see my cheerful girl standing there waiting for me. When I saw her fist full of something my first thought was “how did she get raisins in her bed?” But upon sniffing…you guessed it…little poop pebbles!!! My only guess is that she thought they were so hard and round that they were cute little balls (which she is especially fond of). And she must have went digging in her diaper for one after the other, because poop was up underneath her finger nails…ugh! I hate to even think that she might have put some in her mouth, but there were a couple “crumbs” on her face. However, her breath didn’t smell like poop, so I consoled myself with that. Needless to say she went directly to the tub and all her bedding, clothes, and my clothes went in the washer. As she soaked we had a nice long chat about how poop is messy, yucky, dirty, and we do not touch it or eat it…and how she is not to put her hands down her diaper ever, ever again. It was bound to happen sometime…like a rite of passage. Maybe she is having a growth spurt after all.

Here are Miranda and Johnny watching Miranda's old mobile. She loved it when she was Johnny's age and it seems she still can be entranced by it. We rigged it to a chair so they could lie on the couch and watch it. Miranda didn't like Johnny waving his arm and touching her so I told her to hold his hand. She held his hand the rest of the time, it was so cute.

When we were home over Christmas the grand kids got to pick out items that were my Grandpa and Grandma Lehman's. One thing I chose that was sentimental to me was this little ring toss game. It is now one of Miranda's favorites. She has fun handing out the rings, saying who's turn it is, and either gently lying her's rings on top or placing it deliberately beside the stake and exclaiming that she missed with her hand on her head.

We had a great time seeing family over Christmas. We survived/conquered the drive home. The kids did great and we actually made it in about the same time as we can without kids- 17 1/2 hours. I was calculating 20 so I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't even have to use all the weapons from my entertainment arsenal for Miranda. Wish I had some great story to tell (not really!) but it was pretty uneventful. Praise the Lord! Click on this pic to see more photos from Christmas.

My mom and I remembered how we dressed up Miranda and set her up on the chair to take a picture of her when she was less than a week old, so we decided to do the same thing to Johnny.It's not quite the same without the skinny legs showing:-)
